Greetings Friends,

Welcome to all the new subscribers, over 30 of you.  Also, a special welcome to all the people who just started the new Holy Yoga class in Durand.  Complete Motions continues to grow and grow each month--it is so exciting.
Crucial Conversations
"Violence or Silence."
Conversations can be scary.  Since conversations can make you vulnerable in front another person, we tend to find ways to put up barriers.  One way is to only share facts.  How many times does a friend or spouse ask, "How are you doing?"  and you automatically say "Fine" but in reality you are having a terrible day.  You had a flat tire on your way to work, you are stressed, and you just can't seem to get enough sleep.  You put up a barrier because you don't want to burden the other person.  However, there is a way to answer their question truthfully and not feel burdensome.  Simply state, "My day isn't going the best as I'd hope."  This may open up the door for further questions or the other person may just say, "I'm sorry about that."

Another way that people deal with crucial conversations is either through violence or silence.  Violence is when a person feels very strongly about their opinion and lets everyone know it.  Silence is when a person has an opinion but doesn't share it for fear of causing a confrontation or being different.  Either method of dealing with conversations is not beneficial to any of the parties involved in the dialogue.

How do you break violence or silence?  Find a mutual purpose  How can all parties involved in the conversations benefit?  If you feel like you need to address a very sensitive topic with a spouse or friend, discover how both you and they would benefit from the conversations.

This month join me in practicing these actions:
-Not putting off crucial conversations
-Sharing my opinion openly but in a non-threathening way
-Not being silent or violent in conversations but being respectful to all parties
-Breaking down the barrier of just sharing facts
-Being honest and true to myself

Next Month's Focus
Power in being POSITIVE
Have you heard of The Secret?  About two weeks ago, I would have said "NO".  However, now it seems that where ever I turn The Secret keeps popping up.  People have even asked me my opinion on The Secret.  The Secret is a book and DVD created on positive thinking and getting what you want in life.  One draw back on The Secret is that it is not Christian based, there is very little reference to God in it.

For some, The Secret easily aligns with their faith and beliefs but for others (like myself) it just didn't resonant.  If you would like to hear a Christian perspective on getting what you want in life, check out this audio clip below.

Next month's focus will be about how being positive impacts your life.

Share with me your thoughts on The Secret or how positive or negative thoughts have impacted you.  Email me at christina@completemotions.com

Yoga/Pilates Pose Breakdown
Standing Forward Fold

Pose Breakdown
Stand in mountain (good posture) with your feet hip distance apart.  Hinge from your hips forward.  Bend your knees slightly.  Allow your head to release freely.  Spin your inner things back towards the wall behind you.  Allow your entire body to relax.  As your hamstrings release you may want to take your palms onto your calves and bend your elbows to the back of the room for more depth in the stretch.

Tips
  • Try not to grip the mat with your toes
  • Practice lifting all 10 toes off the mat and rooting down through the bottoms of your feet
  • Your legs will be engaged but your knees should not be locked
  • As you rotate your inner thighs back you will create more room for the tail bone, which will create more space in your lower back and sacrum

Benefits

Calming, sooth the nervous system, open the backside of the body, stretch the hamstrings, buttocks, and lower back, release tension, improve digestion, and cleanse the liver

Great to practice at night.

What are probiotics?

Probiotics play a very important factor in maintaining good health because they are living microflora or microorganisms that are within healthy human intestines.  Probiotics also synthesize certain vitamins and boost intestinal lining health and immunity.

Antibiotics and chlorinated water can change the balance of the microorganisms living in your intestines--taking it from a healthy state to unhealthy.  Pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals can also minimize the natural supply of probiotics.
