Pilates


Pilates is a method of exercise developed by Josef Hubertus Pilates in the 1920’s.  Pilates emphasizes posture, alignment, and strength of the abdominal region and the back.  Specific movements are used to promote core strength (back/abdomen) and flexibility.  Quite often the torso is held while the limbs move which challenges a person’s balance and ability to keep proper form and alignment while flowing throughout each movement.
