What is
the Healthy for Life Program?
The Healthy for Life program is based on Dr. Ray
Strand’s book, Healthy For Life. Through
clinical trials done under the guidelines of the FDA participants were able to reverse
the symptoms of the Metabolic Syndrome, lose inches off
their waistlines and have more
energy.
Participants can also expect to see blood sugar, insulin
sensitivity, triglycerides, cholesterol, and blood pressure improve.
What is the Metabolic Syndrome? How do I know if I have it? The
Metabolic Syndrome is a serious of symptoms that promote the
development of coronary artery disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
Symptoms Include:
Extra weight around your waist (women should be under
34.5 inches and men under 40 inches)
High blood pressure
Elevated triglyceride levels
Increased risk of diabetes (insulin
resistance)
low HDL "good" cholesterol level

What is a Shrink-a-Thon?
A SHRINK-A-Thon
operates much like
a “walk-a-thon” or a “bowl-a-thon”, but instead of “walking” or
“bowling” participants shed excess pounds. (Picture
children
trying to raise money for their school, as they ask family and
neighbors to pledge 50 cents for every lap they walk. But now instead
of children, think of adults working in teams to lose weight while
supporting a variety of worthy non-profits.)
We all know
many worthy causes that are in need of financial support and most of us
recognize the need to shed a few pounds or just generally get
healthier. The SHRINK-A-Thon™
combines these
two needs, and thus creates a powerful win-win situation. As we work
together to lose weight, we will be raising money for the Children's
Hunger Fund.
More than 99% of the Children's Hunger Fund goes to feed
needy
children world wide. Help us shed pounds and feed others.
